Frames | Packets |
Frames are operated at the lower level, means at layer 2 of the OSI model, the data link layer. | Whereas the packets are operated over 3rd layer of the OSI, the network layer. |
Data transmission with the help of frames can involve different types of packets | In packets there is no involvement of the frame. |
Frames are smaller in size and range. | Packets are greater in size and range. |
Instead of data link layers frames are also associated with the other physical layers. | The packets are only based upon the networking layers and protocols such as the IP. |
Frames are not compatible with having such information’s of sender and the receiver. Whereas they are able to judge the beginning and the ending of the document. | Packets can have all the information about the data, sender and the receiver in it. |
