Fossil with loot remains in the belly: the feathered dinosaur Microraptor gui swallowed up small birds.
A spectacular "fossil in the fossil" has enabled new insights into the lifestyle of a curious fossil: the Microraptor famous for its springs on the front and rear extremities gui swallowed small great birds as a whole down, similar to the today's birds of prey. Chinese researchers have discovered the bones of a small bird inside of the ribs of a some 120 million years old fossil of Microraptor report. This finding suggests that approximately lived one and a half kilograms heavy mini Dino in trees and hunted. This support the thesis that the animals with their four wings sent could manoeuvre himself through the branches, the scientists to Zhonghe Zhou of the Institute of paleontology in Beijing say.
