chaffinch alarm call

This goes with my other chaffinch video and illustrates one of their many calls, as opposed to their familiar song. This call is reserved for emergencies, usually when the bird sees someone approaching its nest, or it sees a predator. Notice that this bird conveniently shows us front and back views. Mr Shoveler is trying to get some kip but his fidgety missus keeps waking him up. Finally she waddles off and he gets some shut-eye at last. Filmed at Lodmoor RSPB reserve, Weymouth.
