Chernobyl: myths and facts after 25 years

Experts and the SMI do not have time to refute rumors about the nuclear disaster. Rumors paralyzes emergency services and does not allow a timely response to calls about fires and other assistance for people in distress. The WWF predicts that in 10-15 years there will be an increase in the strength and quantity of hazardous weather events that will result in the deaths of millions of people. In Russia alone in 2009, the number of dangerous meteorological phenomena increased two-fold. At the end of September 2010, the head of the secretariat of the framework convention OON, Christina Figueres said of climate change on the ground, "The change of weather conditions on the ground will lead to shortages of energy and natural reserves of minerals." From May 1, 1986 through 1988, seven filmmakers filmed step-by-step the work of cleaning up the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. The authors of this film survived the tragic days of the nuclear disaster. Let us recall the words of MSGorbachev, addressed to the people responsible for dealing with the Chernobyl accident: "For all the severity of the case, damage has been limited to a great extent thanks to the courage and skill of our people, their loyalty to the duty."
