Coca-Cola Canada 2011 Arctic Home commercial : Response






WATCH THE COMMERCIAL:www.youtube.com VVVVV TEXT AND PERSONAL COMMENTS Feel free to respond, never a wrong or right. I realize this campaign focuses on the Canadian Coca-Cola franchises so the figures presented were exaggerated as they represented the corporation in its global entirety. Irregardless the minor contributions made cannot justify their claims. My thoughts on the seemingly positive Coca-Coca activism towards polar bear populations and global climate change issues. WATCH THE COMMERCIAL:www.youtube.com Okay this pisses me off so I had to write a nice solid rant. Watch until [0:33] and pause. Until this point in the commercial, the audience is lead to the conclusion that global climate change is having a detrimental effect on polar bear populations. This conclusion is not controversial and is generally accepted. Heartfelt imagery of playful polar bears in the snow add interest and grabs attention. Keep in mind what more than half of the video's message was thus far: "Due to climate change, each year it's getting harder for her to care for the cubs that depend on her" (0:10), "Her survival depends on the survival of the incredibly fragile arctic environment"(0:18). Now resume the video and you will quickly find it is not exactly what was first assumed. With the opening "Coca-Cola is working with world wildlife fund to support the arctic home of the polar bear", I was interested.
