Once again it's been quite some time since I've uploaded a video but work has continued on LoM and NAS2D. For awhile now we've been working with a group called Hack 'n Slash Games. They designed a game called Destiny of the Sword which is similar in style to games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Vandal Hearts. The game has seen several false starts with programmers coming and going, various bits of code have been developed on and off and up until now, a whole lot of nothing has happened. Trevor and I talked it over and we decided to put LoM's development on hold for awhile and develop Destiny of the Sword (DotS) using NAS2D and OpenGL. This video shows the two modes I've started to work on. The first is the 2D map mode which shows the map structure functional. It handles basic height information, entity placement and tile set management. Hardly a game but it's a start. I also threw together a simple GUI based tile palette. I then switch over to the 3D mode... it started with the previous spinning cube example (www.youtube.com Here I've worked on some basic camera controls and a basic method of drawing a cube grid map with cubes of varying heights. Also note the mouse pointer, text, mouse HUD and title bar at the top, all of which are done via the NAS2D interface. So yeah, not a playable game yet but definitely some interesting development work going on here... :) --------------------- TheLegend of Mazzeroth is a 2D open-source RPG/MMORPG project that's been in development ...
