Hand Feeding Baby Dove

This baby collared dove, fell off his nest about a week ago, and ended up inside a flower pot in my balcony. A week later Lucky (that's how I named him), is able to eat a special hand feeding formula (called Exact) with a hand feeding syringe and he is doing just fine. This video is to help people on how to feed a baby pigeon. The most important tip I can give you is always to remember to take the syringe with your right hand and then pry open the beak and syringe the food down the side of left side of the mouth. Syringing down the center could cause some of the liquid to go down the trachea which is positioned right behind the tongue. Here is a link to a great video that shows exactly what I mean kaytee.com

The dove calls for a while until a cranky Western Wood-Pewee chases the dove from his perch.
