Our Pet Bird (Part II)

Our Pet Bird (Part II)
This is a visit to our pet bird "HoneyBird". We rescued her after finding her on the ground alone, while walking our dogs on day. She was only a few days old. That was 17 months ago from the filming of this video. We did not think that we would be able to save her, but rather she would die in a warm and safe place in our home. She did live, and she was strong! We took her on walks every day with us and our dogs in the same park that we found her. We did this for one year, always letting her go outside, (except in bad weather). She learned to fly but continued to stay with us around and in our house. She slowly started to spend time away during the days but returned to our house to sleep in the evening. Then one night she did not return. We searched for her in the park where she was born and where we found her as a baby. It took about one week to locate her. She was building her first nest in a cottonwood tree. We knew it was "our girl" because she flew to us when she spotted us. We helped her build her nest by supplying her with materials like yarn, cotton, and various other odds and ends. She would take these items from our hands and then take the nesting material back to her nest. Anyway, we continue to visit her every day. We never know where she will come from next as we walk our two dogs in the park. But when she sees us she leaves her flock of Grackle friends and comes to visit us. This video is one of those visits.
