The Glasgow Airport Rail Link (GARL) was a proposed rail link during the 2000s to directly link Glasgow Central station with Glasgow International Airport in Scotland, United Kingdom. The link was intended for completion by 2013 and would have had a service of four trains per hour via Paisley Gilmour Street railway station. Paisley Gilmour Street railway station is one of four stations serving the town of Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland (Gilmour Street, St. James, Paisley Canal and Hawkhead). The station is managed by First ScotRail and is on the Ayrshire Coast Line, 12 km (7¼ miles) west of Glasgow Central. The station is protected as a category B listed building. Glasgow Airport railway station was a planned railway station to serve Glasgow International Airport, Scotland. Originally intended to open in 2010, the station would have been the western terminus of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (GARL) before it was cancelled in 2009. Two trains an hour would have run between Glasgow Airport and Glasgow Central stations, being proposed to be operated by First ScotRail.
