peregrine falcon nest box in Rochester, NY. Orion, the "only child", is so excited when dinner arrives. He has been waiting patiently all day. A very special dinner it is as Dot Ca, the resident male who rarely gets to feed, does the "serving". .!!
April 27, 2007: Several days have passed since Mom was chased off (most likely mortally wounded) by the invading female peregrine falcon. She has been stealing the prey that Dad brings to the nest box. The first prey was stolen early this morning. The second time, Dad arrives with a smaller prey and the female isn't around. His babies are so weak, they hardly look up when he arrives. the smallest can barely hold up his head and gets only three bites. They are still hungry and crying when Dad leaves.
