May 13, 2008: Yesterday Scout could hear her unborn chick peeping to her. Some time during the night he hatched! So here he is, all fluff and sweetness. What a triumph for this pair, whose four eggs in 2007 were infertile. Three more eggs are left to hatch.
May 17, 2007: After spending the night with the chicks in the nest box, S2 relaxes in the morning. She started feeding them a few days ago, and Dad took some time off. This morning, however, Dad brings breakfast, and we see the four of them together. In her new role as Mom, S2 takes the prey from Dad and proceeds to feed the chicks herself.
