Water, or H20, is a substance crucial to life and its processes. Water covers the majority of earth's surface, and composes more than half of the human body. Without an aqueous environment, life would not be able to occur. A water molecule is polar, and is formed by the covalent bonds of two positively charged hydrogen atoms, and one negatively charged oxygen atom. Found in three states, water can be a solid, liquid or a gas. In addition, water also has several properties; it is a solvent, has high specific heat, is cohesive and adhesive, and has surface tension, also known as Turgor Pressure. All of these properties, along with the capability to have more than one state, allow water to be widely utilized and found virtually almost everywhere.
